Youth and Family Ministry Calendar - Summer 2010

June 28, Monday, 1 p.m. - Lunch

Meet Pastor Lewis at the Food Court in Montgomery Mall for lunch. Lunch is on your own, but Pastor Lewis will buy dessert. Meet Pastor Lewis at the top of the escalator by the food court.

July 4, Sunday, both worship services - Blessing of those going to Work Camp

We will bless all those who will be leaving the following week to Chi Rho Work Camp in Neon, Kentucky.

July 8, Thursday - Grease Sing-Along

The original high school musical, Grease, is hitting the theaters again this summer – but it a sing-along format. The participating theaters have not yet been announced, however we will plan to meet and see this film together. All are invited, children, youth and adults. We know you sign along when you watch it at home, now come out and sing with a larger crowd.

July 11, Sunday, 7 a.m. - Chi Rho departure

Those going to Chi Rho should be at Bethel Lutheran Church in Manassas, VA no later than 7 a.m.

July 11 - 17 - Chi Rho Work Camp

Several high school students will be accompanying Pastor Lewis as they head to Neon, Kentucky for Work Camp. There may still be spaces available if you would like to go. If you are interested in going, please contact Pastor Robert Lewis.

July 11, Sunday, 1:30 p.m. - Basketball

All youth and adults are invited for a pick-up game of Basketball at the church. We will play from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. This is the first of several Basketball Sundays this summer.

July 17, Saturday, 5 p.m. - Chi Rho Return

The Chi Rho work crew should return to Bethel Lutheran Church around 5 p.m.

July 18, Sunday, 4 p.m. - Family Pool Party at the Hando Home
All are invited to a Pool and Pizza Party at the Hando Home. Families with children and/or youth are especially invited. (Rain date is July 25.) Please contact the church office for directions.

July 25, Sunday, 1:30 p.m. - Basketball

All youth and adults are invited for a pick-up game of Basketball at the church. We will play from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. This is the second of several Basketball Sundays this summer.

August 9, Monday, 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. - Youth Pool Party

All youth are invited to a pool party at Inverness Forrest Swimming Pool located at 10820 Deborah Drive. The Murtlands are our hosts and the cost to enter the pool is $5 for each person. We will have drinks and food available. You can bring a friend.

August 15, Sunday 1:30 p.m. - Basketball

All youth and adults are invited for a pick-up game of Basketball at the church. We will play from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. This is the third of several Basketball Sundays this summer.

All youth and adults are invited for a pick-up game of Basketball at the church. We will play from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. This is the fourth of several Basketball Sundays this summer.

Youth and Family Ministry Team Needs You!

The Youth and Family Ministry Team (YFMT) is responsible for planning, developing, implementing and maintaining ministry programs and events for people of all ages. From the Fun Bunch events for our 60+ members to the Adventure Club for elementary age children; from Work Camp and Mission Trips to Family get-togethers such as Ice Skating and Bowling we do it all. And we are need of a few people to help with this important ministry at Emmanuel.

The YFMT meets about once a month to brainstorm about programs and events for our congregation. We are especially looking for parents of elementary age children and those who would like to help with adult programs such as the Dinner Club, Fun Bunch and other events. Please contact Pastor Lewis to let him know you want to be involved with this wonderful and important ministry.
