Family & Youth Ministry Calendar
2009 National Youth Gathering:
It may seem early to start talking about an event that will take place in 2009; however, we will have to be ready to register for this event before the end of summer. This event will take place in New Orleans and will be completely different from other National Youth Gatherings in the past. We will have to start thinking about who plans on attending, set up a schedule to meet a few times during the summer, and start working on fundraising activities. Those who are currently (spring of 2008) in the 8th to 11th grades will be able to attend next year.
August 3 - 8:
Mar-Lu-Ridge Camp Week
Everyone is invited to join Pastor Lewis at Mar-Lu-Ridge camp
this week. This is the last week of the camp session. There are
camps available for children and youth, ages 7 - 14. This is
also the week of Family Camp. Families of all shapes and sizes
are able to enjoy all aspects of this great place on top of the
mountain. For more information, contact Pastor Lewis.
August 10, Sunday, 10 a.m. Between Services
Special Sunday Songs and Devotions
This is our second Sunday where we will get together,
hopefully outdoors depending on weather, and sing some songs,
games and a short devotion. These events are for people of all
ages.
August 13, Wednesday, 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.:
A Day on the National Mall
All youth are invited to join Pastor Lewis as we head into
Washington, D.C. for a day at the National Mall. We will take
the Metro into town and walk around the Mall and other parts
of Washington, so wear good walking shoes
August 15, Friday, 8:00 p.m.:
Strathmore Night at the Movies
Everyone is invited to join Pastor Lewis on the lawn at the
Strathmore for a free movie. Come watch The Bee Movie and
bring some snacks to share. Pastor Lewis usually sets his chairs
up near the projection truck. Bring either low beach chairs or a
blanket to sit on as we watch the movie under the stars. And
maybe we can see some more shooting stars like we did last
year.
August 25, Monday, 1 p.m.:
Youth Lunch
This is the last day before school starts, so come out to lunch at
California Tortilla in the Cabin John Shopping Center (Corner
of Tuckerman and Seven Locks). Free Chips and dip to
everyone who is there on time. If you need a ride, give Pastor
Lewis a call.
IMPROMPTU GET-TOGETHERS
During the summer Pastor Lewis also has impromptu get-togethers
for lunch, going to the movies, dinner, the amusement
park and other great places. Keep an eye out on your email and
in the bulletin for more information. If you have an idea for a
get together, call or email Pastor Lewis.
