Outreach

Throughout the year, Emmanuel organizes and sponsors various activities that benefit people in our community, region, and nation, and throughout the world. We invite you to join our committee and help us with one project or many. Contact Ginger Boone at info@elcbethesda.org.

Healthy Food for Manna!!!

… Isn’t all food healthy? Unfortunately, no. Foods with added sugar and salt are often less expensive than nutrient-rich foods like fruits, vegetables and whole grains. For this reason, many fill up on calorie-dense food that does not contain the nutrients our body needs. As a result, Manna is now giving us and their clients guidance on Healthy Food Choices!

Each Sunday in February, please bring a couple of items with you as part of your offering. Boxes will be in the Narthex for collection. Those listed below are for your shopping! Consider: Whole grains such as Quinoa, brown rice or oatmeal; canned fruits in juice rather than syrup; canned vegetables with no salt.

On Sunday February 19 and 26, the Sunday School will also bring in baby food. This is an especially high need for them! So parents of Sunday School children, please help your child shop with you for healthy baby food to contribute, so others may eat!

Your MANNA Shopping List:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MANNA especially requests: Nut butters, Canned fruits in juice, canned vegetables without salt, dried or canned beans, tuna, Whole-wheat pasta, whole grain crackers, oatmeal, cream of wheat, Quinoa, brown rice

Mission Endowment

Contributions to the mission endowment fund provide another way to support the work of the church. Learn how this fund provides additional financial support for local community projects, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) mission work, and capital improvements for our church facility.

Missionary Sponsorship

Members of Emmanuel sponsor a Lutheran missionary family through ELCA's Division for Global Mission.

National Lutheran Home

In addition to the Outreach Committee activities, others at Emmanuel serve the community in various ways. For example, Emmanuel members organize visits and parties, serve residents, assist staff, and participate in fundraisers at the National Lutheran Home. For more information about Emmanuel's volunteer efforts at the National Lutheran Home or contact Jean Abel at info@elcbethesda.org
